In a Dachau war crimes trial he was convicted of using 1,200 concentration camp prisoners for malaria experimentation. Thirty died directly from the inoculations and 300 to 400 died later from complications of the disease. His experiments, all with unwilling subjects, began in 1942.

Albert Pierrepoint (1905 – 1992) was a long-serving hangman in England. He executed at least 400 people, about half of them war criminals, including William Joyce (one of the men dubbed "Lord Haw-Haw"), and John Amery, whom he considered the bravest man he had ever hanged. It is believed that Pierrepoint executed at least 433 men and 17 women, including six U.S. soldiers at Shepton Mallet and some 200 Nazi war criminals after World War II. Source: Wikipedia

Albert Pierrepoint, who has died aged 87, was Britain's leading executioner for 25 years, but later campaigned for the abolition of the death penalty.

Hangman's rope, England, 1870-1888 "This rope is looped through a metal ring to form a noose.  Hangmen began using William Marwood’s ‘long drop’ technique of hanging by the 1880s. This allowed the prisoner to fall a controlled distance, ending in a sharp jerk of the rope. This broke the neck of the the prisoner and was more humane."

This girl was hanged in the Minsk prison (Byelorussia, the U.S.S.R.) by Nazi in 1942 for having sex with German soldiers. The photographer took pictures of the corpse of this unhappy girl. And those images were used for conviction of the Nazi soldiers who had sex with that girl. The body of this executed girl was not released to her parents. It was burned subsequently.

William Richmond (1763-1829) was born a slave in , Staten Island, New York.  Richmond worked as a hangman for Percy, his most famous execution being that of Nathan Hale. In 1777 he was taken to England and apprenticed to a cabinetmaker. Richmond took up boxing & ultimately gave up cabinetmaking to fight professionally. Known as "The Black Terror,", Richmond won many fights. After retiring, Richmond operated a boxing academy. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1999.
