This hardwood species called Jatoba comes from Central and South American forests. Given the marketing name Brazilian Cherry because of its origin and its red hue, this has been the most sought after exotic species of hardwood flooring for the last 10-12 years. It is incredibly hard, much harder than red oak or maple and can pose a challenge to finish because of oils contained in the lumber itself. Use of waterbased finish products is recommended.
