Santuario Nacional Nuestra Señora del Carmen. Designed by Giovanni Buscaglione, 1926–1938, Bogotá, Colombia. This neo-Gothic church is dedicated to the Virgin of Carmen, Colombia's patron saint. Notable features include its stained-glass windows by Franz Mayer of Munich, depicting scenes from the Virgin's life and Colombian history, as well as artworks by Mariano Benlliure and Ricardo Acevedo Bernal. The Santuario has witnessed significant historical events, including the assassination of President Jorge Eliécer Gaitán in 1948. Today, it serves as a popular pilgrimage site and tourist destination, offering guided tours and remaining a cultural and religious landmark in Bogotá. Oil on canvas, 3020 x 7850 mm, attributed to Giampietrino, and Giovanni Antonio Boltraffio, after Leonardo da Vinci, c. 1515–20. Giampietrino, whose real name was Giovanni Pietro Rizzoli, was an Italian painter of the Lombard school and Leonardo da Vinci's circle, and referred to as an 'exploiter of Leonardo's repertory'. He was a follower of da Vinci, and is believed to have been his assistant, contributing to several of da Vinci's works. Boltraffio, another painter of the Lombard school, was also da Vinci's pupil, and may have worked on this painting as well. Both artists were greatly influenced by da Vinci's style and techniques. This is a faithful reproduction of 'Last Supper' painted on the wall of the refectory of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan.
