Decision Making
Choices allow children to participate in the decision making process and have a role in the interaction. Choices can increase engagement (because they know they have a part in what is happening) and decrease behaviors (acting out).As a Speech-Language Pathologist, I incorporate controlled choices into every one of my sessions.I have seen giving choices be effective so much so that I created a resource around it! Read on to find out what it is and how I use it.

I love using themes in speech therapy. An important part of themed therapy is the use of hands-on activities that engage multiple senses. It is also important to give many exposures to the new concepts across different contexts (play, book reading, videos, etc). Below you will find my top favorite toys, books and activities to use with a weather theme as well as my favorite FREE TpT resources to go grab! #themesintherapy #speechtherapyactivities #speechactivities

Can You Be
Schedule
Books To Read
I quickly learned to drop the “can you” “are you” etc., when I am not actually asking a question. But it is HARD. A speech therapy example might sound something like this, “Okay next on our schedule is reading a book! Wow, we are already halfway through our schedule!” ~ you can also opt to offer a choice of books to your student if he/she is still resistant to participating in your initial therapy plan.
