What is the cause of Alzheimer's Disease? 👩🏻‍⚕️
👉Alzheimer’s disease primarily affects memory, thinking, and behavior. 👉It involves the buildup of amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles. These disrupt cell communication and nutrient transport, causing neuron death. 👉Begins with mild memory loss and word-finding difficulties. As it progresses, confusion, recognition issues, and language challenges increase. 👉Cholinesterase inhibitors and memantine can help manage symptoms.

Medical Question of the Day
👉Courvoisier’s Law: Jaundice combined with a painless, palpable gallbladder is unlikely due to gallstones and often suggests a malignant obstruction, such as pancreatic cancer. 👉This is because gallstones typically cause chronic inflammation and fibrosis, preventing the gallbladder from distending, unlike a neoplastic obstruction which causes gradual, painless distention. 👉Pancreatic cancer arises when abnormal cells in the pancreas grow uncontrollably, forming a tumor.
Things you DON'T NEED as a medical student 🙅🏻‍♀️
Things you DON'T NEED as a medical student 🙅🏻‍♀️ 1️⃣ Premium anatomy models: Utilize your school’s anatomy labs and digital resources like virtual dissection software instead of buying expensive models. 2️⃣ Fancy stationery: Basic, affordable pens and notebooks are sufficient. Focus on your studies, not the aesthetics. 3️⃣ Expensive medical equipment: Stick to essentials like a reliable stethoscope. High-end equipment is often provided in clinical settings; consult your program before purchasing.

Do you prefer 1 hand or 2 handed knots? 👀👩🏻‍⚕️
Do you prefer 1 hand or 2 handed knots? 👀👩🏻‍⚕️ I remember being absolutely mind-blown when my lecturer taught me how to do a surgeon's tie back in 2nd year! It took A LOT of practice 😂 but I finally got the hang of it (? I think 😫) If you want to get better, I highly recommend getting some fishing wire and tying it to a book. You can then just practice while you're sitting on the couch and watching TV 🤭 before you know it you will be able to tie knots without even thinking!
