The oceans cover about two-thirds of the surface of the Earth and are the very foundations of life. They are so huge we might think they are too big to be harmed. That's wrong, today more than ever the world's oceans need our help. Many actions can be taken! Refusing plastic straws is one of them, a smal significant step in the right direction. It is estimated that almost all of the marine pollution in the world is comprised of plastic materials. The average proportion varied between 60% and 80% of total marine pollution. Scientists estimate that every year at least 1 million seabirds and 100,000 marine mammals and sea turtles die when they entangle themselves in plastic pollution or ingest it.
