Ruth Graves Wakefield graduated from the Framingham State Normal School Department of Household Arts in 1924. After graduation, she worked as a dietitian and food lecturer. She and her husband bought and ran the Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachussets. The Nestle Toll House chocolate chip cookie recipe revised-no gluten, milk, egg. I used Bob's Red Mill Flour substitute + 1/2 teaspoon Xanthan gum, butter flavor Crisco (soy - need to look for a replacement), Ener-G egg replacer, Enjoy Life chocolate chips. EVERYONE loved them. Really.
