"Rogozov was part of the sixth Soviet Antarctic expedition. A team of 12 had been sent to build a new base at the Schirmacher Oasis." By the time they had been at sea for 36 days, Leonid knew he had appendicitis. "A general anaesthetic wasn't an option. Once he had cut through, removing the appendix would have to be done without further pain relief, to keep his head clear." "After nearly 2 hours, he had completed the operation, down to the final stitch."
One legend is that the tree was the headquarters of the New Jersey Ku Klux Klan, where Black people were lynched there to spread terror. Whatever the case, locals have since: seen ghostly apparitions, been thrown from the tree, chased by a black Ford pickup truck, experienced accidents, heard voices, and had their hands turn black. Definitely sounds like a tree that is NOT to be messed with..
"Special effects makeup artist, Craig Reardon, said under oath that the skeletons were real. In 1982, Reardon was deposed as part of a lawsuit filed against Spielberg by screenwriters Paul Clemens + Bennett Michael Yellin." "Reardon said, 'I acquired a number of actual biological surgical skeletons, is what they’re called. They’re for hanging in classrooms in study. These are actual skeletons from people. I think the bones are acquired from India.'"

Some truly beautiful, bizarre, and grotesque Halloween looks, inspired by Eastern cultures. Each one is absolutely amazing, and must have taken so much time to commit to. Kudos to them 😱🎃
"Anthropomorphism, which is the recognition of human-like characteristics or form in animals, plants or non-living things. This tree, which can be found in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, has roots which have taken a human-like form."

The Legend Of Margorie McCall (a woman who experienced a premature burial). Keep in mind that this legend is ANCIENT, believing to have originated in the 14th century, so a few things may be embellished. What we DO know is McCall was "buried alive" and awoke after grave robbers attempted to steal her ring
They're called liminal spaces. They're like transition points on the way from one place to the next. The reason we find them unsettling is because their existences are not about themselves--they exist for the things that take place before + after them
Not a real skeleton (it's more along the lines of an art project), but it's still creepy nonetheless
