Since, you know, I always had problems remembering the whole "My Mother.. blah blah blah pizza" thing.

Space and Planet FUN!!

So remember when Pluto was a planet?? Does anyone feel a bit sad that Pluto got the boot? "My Very Energetic Mother Just Served Us Noodles" just does not sound as catchy as "My Very Energetic Mother Just Served Us Nine Pickles". Sigh. The science books that we have now still have Pluto listed as a planet. I do teach about Pluto and that it is now considered a dwarf planet. It's even smaller than Earth's moon! I'm so excited to start teaching about the sun, moon, stars and planets. I have…

Is your school heading to the land of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) or STEAM (Same, but add art)? Last year, our school committed to becoming a STEM+A (plus Art) school. So far- I'm loving it!!! It has really got me thinking outside of the box for sure. I'm excited to share with you some ideas that I have with STEM in the future. As part of our story Max's Words in our Journeys reading series, we had to create concrete poems, or poems that are written in the shape of their topic. They're perfect for any writer because they don't have to have any rhyme or rhythm and they can be any length! Here are some examples I used to show the kids. Since we were very busy that week, we didn't create them until last week. I asked the children to pick a winter theme so we could use them for our winter bulletin boards. Here they…

Poetry in Science- (STEM Strategy)

Five For Friday!

TGIF! I hope you all had a great week. I'm linking up with Doodlebugs with my random 5! {One} I wanted to start off by saying how thankful I am for the Boston Law Enforcement and how proud I am to be a police officer's wife. I continue to pray for all of those affected. {Two} I have to share some pictures of my sweet boys...well, because I just love them so. Landon is now a soccer player. Drew is now a big baseball player. And apparently has forgotten how to give his mommy a decent smile…
