Belle Sorenson Gunness (1859-1908?) was a serial killer who had moved from Norway to Chicago in 1881. She killed most of her suitors and boyfriends, and her two daughters, Myrtle and Lucy. She may also have killed both of her husbands and all of her children, on different occasions. Her apparent motives involved collecting life insurance, cash and other valuables. Anjette Lyles was born in Georgia in 1917. Between 1952-1958, she murdered 2 husbands, her mother-in-law and 9-year old daughter by arsenic poisoning all for the insurance money. In 1958, she was found guilty of murder and sentenced to death. She was later found to be insane and spent the rest of her life at the state mental institution in Milledgeville, Georgia. LaLaurie maintained a prominent position in the social circles of New Orleans until April 10, 1834, when responders to a fire at her Royal Street mansion discovered bound slaves who showed evidence of torture over a long period. LaLaurie's house was then sacked by an outraged mob of New Orleans citizens. It's thought that she fled to Paris, where she is believed to have died. He terrorized Ann Arbor, MI as the "Sunday Morning Slasher," killing as many as 40 women. He was arrested in 1982, confessed to 13 murders.
