Clemmys guttata March, 2012. Southwest Michigan. A sharp adult male found basking on a small sphagnum hummock in a high quality fen. This species requires clean, shallow bodies of standing or slow-flowing water with muddy or mucky bottoms and aquatic or emergent vegetation. They may also wander to other habitats such as vernal pools in the early spring.
