Finding Fractions with Connecting Cube Towers
Students build a tower of 10 connecting cubes, selecting what every colors they would like in whatever order they would like. Next students determine the fraction of the tower each color makes up. For example, what fraction of the tower is built with red cubes? The students counts up the number of red cubes, puts that number of parts in the numerator and then puts the total number of cubes in the denominator. Continue the process for each color.
