IJN 'KAGA', a 33,693-ton aircraft carrier. Launched as a battleship, she was completed as an aircraft carrier in March 1926. Thoroughly reconstructed in 1934-35, receiving a full-length flight deck capable of efficiently handling more modern aircraft. Active off China from 1937, she later took part in the Pearl Harbor attack and other operations of the opening months of WWII. She was sank on 4 June 1942, during the Battle of Midway, by dive bombers from USS Enterprise (CV-6)
