Guided Reading & Whole Group Instruction:
This emergent readers printable book is great for identifying the sight word is. This sight word text is ideal for guided reading or whole group reading instruction in Kindergarten or first grade. Students are really engaged with reading when I incorporate the following reading strategies:
Echo Read: Teacher reads aloud a sentence, then students repeat the sentence as teacher points to the words in the text.
Choral Read: The teacher and students read the text at the same time.
Partner Read: Students read the text with a partner.
These reading strategies have been really effective for keeping students engaged and accountable for their reading, in addition to building reading fluency and sight word recognition.
                    Class Book:
This updated emergent readers printable book is more versatile now than ever. In addition to individual student sight word books, teachers also have access to a large class book (8X11). The last page of the class book includes a fill in the blank sentence and space for students to draw pictures that correspond to their sentence. Teachers can print the entire sight word book with student examples in the back or they can just bind student work as their sight word class book.
When the class book is completed, place it in your classroom library for students to refer in the future. Class books are an excellent way to foster a love for reading. Students feel a sense of accomplishment when they see their work published and read by their peers, especially in the classroom library!
                          Center Activity:
Both individual student sight word books and the enlarged class book is a great resource to incorporate in your reading centers.
Writing Center: Students can complete their sentence and draw a picture that correlates to the sentence.
Independent Reading Center: Students can read their sight word emergent readers book/class book to help reinforce reading fluency and sight word recognition.
