The Most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass: A Primer for Clueless Catholics
Dan Burke explains why we genuflect, why we kneel at Mass and at adoration (with citations from the Magisterium and Scripture).
Why genuflect? When there is no tabernacle, there is no need to genuflect. However, bowing toward the altar and toward the cross or crucifix is another physical prayer which shows our reverence.
Why do we genuflect and kneel in church? Both are gestures of adoration. We genuflect and kneel out of reverence for our Lord. We honor Him above all and we place ourselves humbly before Him and acknowledge His true presence.
Why genuflect? Kneeling in Mass and Adoration.
