How Andy Warhol Became the Prince of Pop

Andy Warhol, born Andrew Warhola, started his career in the magazine industry as an ad illustrator. It wasn’t until years later he became the “it man” during the for his Pop Art movement.

Andy Warhol, had a lasting love affair with opals, very soon after his first exposure to opals he became an avid collector and  in 1977 his exhibition Opal the Rainbow Gem at the ICA in London featured photos of the gemstone taken through a microscope.
