Mary Power, Laura's best friend in Little Town on The Prairie, with her husband Ed Sandford, who was a banker in De Smet. The Sanfords lived across the street from Ma and Pa, who had moved to town permanently in 1887, before moving to Bellingham, WA, where Mary died at age 63.  In the years before her marriage, Mary was a member of a local theater company and an avid skater at the local rink.

Ed Sandford. Mary Powers, one of Laura's friends and classmates, married a banker, Ed Sandford. They lived across the street from Ma and Pa's Third street home until the early when Mary and her husband moved to Bellingham, Washington.
