Saunders Roe flying boat - I remember sailing back from Cape Town in 1956 in a Union Castle ship and passing Calshot Spit in Southampton Water. There were 2 of these huge aircraft drawn up on the beach there.

Even larger than the Boeing 314 was the Saunders Princess. It never flew more than 100 hours and all three prototypes were broken up in 1967, 20 years after they were built and had been siting around rotting for all that time. It's a major shame that none were saved for a museum. These massive planes were among the biggest things to ever fly on earth.
