The two men (Basil Rathbone left, and Nigel Bruce right) who have played Holmes and Watson...more than any other two men in Film and Radio history.   Yes, they also had an ongoing radio drama as well as 14 feature films. A bit stoic and over-refined compared to our more modern look at Sherlock Holmes, but still a great performance.

Just saw this on Turner Classic Movies: John Barrymore as "Sherlock Holmes" (black-and-white silent, An oddly paced and over-plotted movie, but Barrymore (despite reportedly being drunk for the entire shoot) makes a dashing and rather romantic Holmes.
