In the Aztec religion, Huitzilopochtli (Classical Nahuatl: Huītzilōpōchtli), is a Mesoamerican deity of war, sun, human sacrifice and the patron of the city of Tenochtitlan. He was also the national god of the Mexicas, also known as Aztecs, of Tenochtitlan.
