A US Air Force Extender tanker refueling a Galaxy heavy airlifter over Port Orford, Oregon at about feet. We sit under aerial refueling track (southbound). Usually this is training for tankers out of Fairchild AFB (Spokane).
B-17G over Port Orford Saw this flying over the house this morning - you cannot mistake the sound of radial engines. This is one of ten still-flying B-17's in the country. It is painted in the colors of the 323rd Bomb Squadron of the 91st Bomb Group, Eighth Air Force based at RAF Bassingbourn, England during World War II. It belongs to the Collings Foundation, an organization that restores these planes. It was pretty majestic in the blue sky at about 1,000 feet.
