You are someone, you deserve to be treated with respect, and that shouldn't be based off your relationships.

The argument that men should care about women's rights because they have a wife/mother/sister/daughter is fundamentally flawed. It still defines women in relation to men, thus denying their basic rights as human beings.

As a woman I used to wonder how big a problem harassment really was, since I'd never experienced it. Then I saw it secondhand at work, and thought maybe this does occasionally happen. Only when I experienced cat-calling firsthand with a group from my school on a Chicago trip did I realize how unsafe and uncomfortable and wrong and real this problem really is.
