John William Coltrane, also known as "Trane", was an American jazz saxophonist and composer. Working in the bebop and hard bop idioms early in his career, Coltrane helped pioneer the use of modes in jazz and later was at the forefront of free jazz.
Alonzo "Lonnie" Johnson (February 1899 – June was an American blues and jazz singer/guitarist and songwriter who pioneered the role of jazz guitar and is recognized as the first to play single-string guitar solos.
J. B. Hutto (April 26, 1926 June 12, 1983) was a blues musician and song writer. Hutto was influenced by Elmore James, and became known for his slide guitar work and declamatory style of singing.
