ISOLATION | by Olafur Eliasson & Scott Berge | 2009 | A sense of isolation, solitude and insignificance is evoked here through the symbolic use of the colours grey and blue that represent the feelings of sadness, coldness and depression. The image is also situated to a corner of the page, playing with negative space to create a sense of isolation and insignificance. The gradual fading of the shapes also work to further elevate this idea of the disappearing and the insignificant.

TENSION | by Marta Marce | Now Ever | 2012 | Tension is generated here through the stark contrast between circular and angular shapes. There appears to be a very prominent imbalance between the organic and angular forms which generate a sense of tension between the two forms as they fight for dominance. The colours also clash with one another with contrasting hues of pinks, greens purples and blues to further create a sense of conflict and imbalance.

LOUD | by Marta Marce | Untitled | 2005 | A sense of sound is generated here through the repetition of colours and shapes to create a notable rhythm. Here, the circular forms are scattered boldly within the canvas to portray a sense of loudness and confidence. The colours used are also random, bold and vivid to further heighten the element of noise and clatter. Personally, the colours remind me of spotlights in a club-like setting which I associate with constant chatter, noise and loud…
