Roy Kuhlman, Krapp's Last Tape, 1960

Free: Krapp's Last Tape by Samuel Beckett - A Collection of Samuel Beckett's Dramatic Plays - Other Books

This is an example of constraint visual language book cover, in this design, the designer use a hole simplify and communicate the concept of Alice’s adventures, the designer subtract and develop the idea by using a hole, and make it meaningful. Also the colour tone of this designer is really good, and a interest thing that draws viewer’s attention this the hole is created by a stack of paper.

This is a completely different take on the popular children's story/movie. The hole on the cover adds depth and draws in our attention into the world of Alice's Adventures Wonderland in a literal sense that the hole is created by a stack of paper.
