Mawer and Saunders was an ironmongery business selling hardware, seen here around 1910. They traded from the turn of the twentieth century and closed in the 1990s. Note the Edwardian ladies formal costume and the old currency used in the display on the shop window and on the advertisement for roofing sheets. This two-story shop became Chinatown, half way up the High Street and on the corner of Church Street, but is now closed and empty.

REALLY old furnace. I always thought of it as an octopus with all its branching arms. The arms were warm to lean your cheek against on cold days. It took up a good half of the basement and served as a divider between the kid's side and the camping gear side.

There are many types of equipment that serve someone into making his household an ideal place to be at. Furnace is one of the products that comforts a home or office interior and makes it actually cozy.

1916 Chevrolet. The Four-Ninety Half-Ton rolled off production lines on December 2, 1916. At the time, trucks were sold with only frontal sheet metal. Custom found the buyer supplying their own wooden cargo box or panel van depending on the requirements of the vehicle. Small business were popping up all over America, and owners need effective transport for all their local goods. Priced at $595, Chevy's first half-ton fit the bill.
