Lots of exciting things happening this week in our happy, colorful, over-the-rainbow world! There are some common threads in these current events, see if you can spot them: Vintage Cate launched a blog. Go through the gate and partake of her Charmed Life. Close it behind you, don't want the dog to get out. Season 4 of Project Runway premiered complete with little vignettes of Santino tooling around LA in Saturn supplied vehicles. Yay. What writer's strike? We need to dish on Elisa later. Not…

My installation, Overgrowth, which was constructed during my residency last summer at Contemporary Craft, is on display in Lake City, SC as a part of the Artfields competition. I drove up yesterday with my lovely assistant Lysa to install it in a really great space called Emerson Row. Subversive crocheting: Joana Vasconcelos
This was love on the first sight. Joana Vasconcelos, born 1971 in Paris, works and lives in Lisboa, Portugal. Wonderful 3-D, room filling crochet work between beauty and absurdity. Good taste or kitsch? Personally I love the painted faience ceramic by late Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro covered with handmade cotton crochet. Everyday objects transformed. Teapot from lacy wrought iron. Gorgeous. A giant crocheted tablecloth handmade by 500 persons. All pictures from here. Look and get enchanted.
