Kim | Busy Bee Farm & Florals on Instagram: "Growing dahlias from seed has really reinvigorated my passion for dahlias. I have been growing them for so many years now, that it has become quite a routine experience for me. Growing them from seed has been such a new exciting way to grow them ! I love how you just never know what they are going to look like, and the thrill of finding a beauty that has never been created before brings me so much joy. When we had our seed sale the other day, I was so excited to see how many of you had ordered our dahlia seeds 🙌 If you missed out on snagging some, I will be bringing our seeds to the @bilstoncreekfarm market we are doing on April 5, 6 and 7th 💚 I put together this reel as a little visual growing guide on how you can presprout your dahlia s

Ria - Cottage garden and flower growing on Instagram: "This is my absolute favourite way to save money in the garden - and the best thing is anyone can do it! Erigeron is a beautiful daisy-like flowering perennial which looks great in pots and edging borders and pathways. You can grow it from seed, but it does take its time. I started a batch in January and they are still very small, although they will get bigger soon so definitely hold on if you sowed along with me! However, if you grab a small pot from the garden centre (this one was £2.99), you can make lots more plants, for free, by taking cuttings. This one roots so quickly in water on a sunny windowsill, at which point you can pot on in to compost and grow on for a bit before planting out. Once you have this plant established in y

The Simplicity of Direct Planting Dahlia Tubers
Welcome to a focused discussion on the best practices for starting your dahlia tubers. While some gardeners prefer to see the "eyes" of their dahlia tubers sprout indoors as a sign of vitality, it's important to distinguish this from the practice of using tubers specifically for cuttings. Getting eyes to show ensures t

Janae & Chris ~ Flower Farm on Instagram: "Pinching ‘Cut & Come Again’ Zinnias 🌸 A quick reminder - if you haven’t already done it- is that pinching out varieties such as zinnias and cosmos right now is the simplest and easiest way to multiply the amount of flowers you will be able to harvest over the coming weeks. Just make sure the plant has three sets of leaves growing, and cut above that 3rd leaf node. And remember!!!…. You can use that pinching as a cutting for a free succession sowing! However, for us, it’s way too late in our season to bother with another succession, so they will just be heading to the compost pile instead. P.S. Has anyone else noticed a massive amount of ladybirds this season?!? Love having so many all over the flowers and veg."
