Catherine the Great’s Five Strand Pearl Necklace: the original five-strand natural pearl necklace containing 389 pearls and weighed about 1,076 carats, with an enamel clasp as well as two diamond alternate clasps. The necklace was apparently sold by an aristocratic family during the revolution and made its way to France. Cartier bought it and in 1920 the necklace was sold to Horace Dodge. In 2008 the necklace, now three-strand and with 224 pearls, was sold at an auction.

The necklace, which comprises 224 pearls and two Cartier diamond clasps, was bought from The House of Cartier in the by the founder of Dodge Automobiles, Michigan-born Horace E. Dodge, for his Scottish wife Anna Thomson Dodge.
