December 30, 1916: Killed, Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin. According to his assassins, Rasputin had been poisoned, shot, and clubbed before being thrown into the Nevka River. The murderers' accounts are not considered particularly accurate. Here, Rasputin is shown in 1914, recovering in the hospital from an earlier assassination attempt.
