I bought this sashiko kit from my local craft store when living in Japan (2006). It is a more modern take on sashiko in that it doesn't use repeated geometric designs but rather is a pretty vine pattern. I had no experience or advice with doing sashiko so you can see a lot of places where the fabric puckers slightly from too-tight thread. The varigated thread was lovely to use!

Kit is FABRIC ONLY. Needles and thread available separately in my shop. This is a pre-printed piece of WHITE cotton with a pattern of Chrysanthemums, very handy for learning sashiko stitching. Sashiko is a traditional Japanese style of quilting that is often used for decoration. The fabric measures 12.75" x 12.75" (31 cm x 31 cm) folded in half and is printed with dye that will wash out.
