Castle Stalker - Originally a small fort, built ca 1320 by Clan MacDougall, then Lords of Lorn. Around 1388 the Stewarts of Appin took over the Lordship of Lorn, it is believed they built the castle in its present form abt the 1440s. It was lost in drunken bet abt 1620 which resulted in the castle passing to Clan Campbell. After being passed back forth between the 2 clans, it was abandoned in 1840. It has since been fully restored. People, Gothic, Palaces, Ancient Architecture, British, Kale, Clan Macdonald, Medieval, Castle

The sword of Scotland was the Claymore, used from the 13th-17th century in Clan wars & border disputes. The Claymore was a fearsome opponent. Slightly shorter than the two handed sword of the time allowing it to be wielded faster, but w/ the same crushing blows as its counterparts. The guard would have two cross arms that had a downward slope & ended in quatrefoils. When it blocked an opponents sword the arms of the guard would trap the other sword & the Claymore could then disarm the opponent.
