Arrays and repeated addition with cereal makes such a fun small groups lesson or math center in 2nd grade or 3rd grade to introduce students to multiplication… they make rectangular arrays with cereal then either write a multiplication equation or repeated addition equation to represent their picture
Haley Gayoski. Due Date 11-18-18. This is a cute idea to do as a bell ringer or an exit slip to assess students' knowledge of addition. Each student will create a different equation and will not be able to copy off of another student so it serves as a fair assessment. A classroom management tip would be to reuse these to practice both addition and subtraction.
This has been such a fun Center. I could see their little brains working and their problem solving skills emerging today, as they worked with the pentominoes to strategically fill the empty space.
