The octopus is a cephalopod of the order Octopoda that inhabits many diverse regions of the ocean, especially coral reefs. Octopuses are characterized by their eight arms, usually bearing suction cups. These arms are a type of muscular hydrostat. They have neither a protective outer shell like the nautilus, nor any vestige of an internal shell or bones, like cuttlefish or squid. This little guy is a post-larval juvenile, about the size of a pea. Got lucky with this one as it was out in the open, not as usually found zipping around inside coral clutter.
