The thing's become ridiculous! Why am I so? Why am I thus? This poem is about losing a crush to outside circumstances such as family and a career. It also deals with a lot of self-hate that she, the poet, is going through because of this rejection. She's been rejected many times, as the poem applies, so she wants to stop loving people but can't do so.
a red heart painted on white paper with watercolors in the shape of a bird
A heart in half is chaste, archaic;
two green street signs sitting on top of a metal pole in front of some trees
Birth and Hope
Who from my birth was cursed with hope.
a ball of yarn hanging from a rope on a red background with two balls of yarn in the foreground
End of Rope
I must go on, till ends my rope,
black and white photograph of an owl looking at the camera
Deny me wisdom, calm, and sense! Though she's a fool who seeks to capture
a woman holding a folder and shaking hands
Family and Career
First came their parents and careers
a hand holding an object in the air with hearts coming out of it's hole
Losing the song
they stilled my song She has lost her passion to find love since she cannot keep a person in her life
the simpsons is sitting on his bed with hearts floating out
Broken heart
They broke my heart, The poet is in sadness over this rejection
a painting of a woman standing in the rain with her hands on her hips and eyes closed
Explaining, so to sop my tears, She's really upset that they are choosing their careers and families over her.
a painting of an angel with a bow and arrow in its hand, flying over a field
The lads I've met in Cupid's deadlock Were- shall we say?- born out of wedlock. She mention Cupid which makes sense because she's in love. This love didn't work out.
some white flowers are in the middle of a green grass field with trees and sunlight shining on them
The sweet transparency of glass, The tenderness of April grass... Grass starts coming back around April because it's Spring, it's a renewal.
a fire is lit in the dark and it looks like someone has taken pictures with their phone
roar of fire
In men the rush and roar of fire,
some type of text on a black background with red and blue letters in the middle
