The human digestive system starts with mouth and ends with anus. Intake of food into to mouth is called Ingestion.Mouth encloses a cavity within called Buccal cavity or Oral cavity. In order to be absorbed and used, food must be “digested”, that is, it must be broken down into small pieces. Each portion of this tube has a different shape and function. It starts at the mouth and ends at the anus.

The digestive system is the process by which our body, organs and chemicals break down the food which we eat.
