Hens like to lay eggs in nesting boxes. •	Provide 1 nest for every 4-5 hens. A good size is 1-foot wide, by 1-foot tall by 1-foot deep. •	Make boxes from wood, metal or plastic. •	Avoid mounting boxes on a north-facing wall as it gets the least amount of sun and can get cold. •	Consider adding a landing board on the front of the box to help hens get in and out and to keep bedding in place. Also we added the next section of the run which leads into their original dirt floor run area. In the winter I put down straw and pine shavings to keep their feet warmer and dryer. The rest of the run gets super wet during the rainy season even though it’s covered. So I use wood chips to help keep their feet dry. Although they constantly scratch the wood chips aside to peck at bugs in the dirt. 🙄
