The Old English Sheepdog is a large breed which was developed in England from early herding types. It can grow a very long, thick shaggy grey white coat with fur covering the face eyes. The ears lie flat to the head. Historically, the tail was commonly docked, supposedly as a result of 18th century tax laws that required working dogs to be docked as evidence of their working status, but undocked are becoming a more common sight.
