Experimenting with woodcut printing for the first time. Inspired by the shadows casted on my kitchen wall, I decided to create a two layer woodcut print. First carving out the shadows on one block, then the grass on another. It felt like a really tactile form of printmaking, working with the grain of the wood. Very time consuming, I definitely have a lot to learn… but, most importantly I enjoyed experimenting. What do you think? Birch ply, Lokta paper & Akua Inks. #woodcut #printmaking ... (That last one is quite a mouthful.) The flowers are handprinted on a favourite paper, handmade from lokta. The image measures approx 30cm square. Each one will be slightly different.
