Jules Joseph Lefebvre (yl zf lfv) (14 March 1836 24 February 1911) was a French figure painter, educator and theorist. Lefebvre was born in TournanenBrie, SeineetMarne, on 14 March 1836. He entered the cole nationale suprieure des BeauxArts in 1852 and was a pupil of Lon Cogniet.

Jules Joseph Lefebvre (1836 - 1911) was a French painter. Having entered the École des Beaux-Arts in 1852, Lefebvre was a pupil of Léon Cogniet and won the Prix de Rome in 1861 with La morte di Priam. From 1855 to 1898 he exhibited 72 portraits in the Paris Salon. In 1891 he was elected a member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts.
