Fratercula corniculata, Horned Puffin. Chunky black-and-white seabird with very thick yellow and red bill. Orange feet. Named for the spikelike protrusion of black skin above the eye. Nests in colonies on rocky islands or cliffs in Canada and Alaska; winters on open ocean. They feed on fish, small invertebrates, crustaceans and squid, and also on small algae and marine plants. They emit a relatively small number of sounds, mostly low in volume which sound like cooing, roaring or grunting.
