Red Light, Green Light, Go! a game many of us played in our youth. We can thank Garrett Morgan for his invention of the traffic signal as inspiration for our childhood pastime. Garrett Augustus Morgan, Sr. was born on March 4, 1877 in Kentucky. The inventor, entrepreneur and community leader also created other significant contributions that included a protective respiratory hood (gas mask) and a hair-straightening chemical.
