Farm animals activities, crafts, games, and printables for preschool and kindergarten. Celebrate the new life of spring with this theme on baby animals born on the farm. Children engage in a series of activities, games, songs, and rhymes centered on baby animal vocabulary: chick, duckling, lamb, bunny, puppy, kitten, foal, calf, piglet, and kid. The felt story "Are You My Mom?" is a great way to introduce children to these terms. This theme is a natural tie-in to our At the Farm activities.

What Mama doesn't love farm crafts for preschoolers in the spring? I wanted to share some of my favourite farm crafts and activities today. But first—guess what's new over at our farm? We are building a barn! Yep, that's right, we don't actually have one yet. Our ladies (now 18 of them, with their trusty

Moooooo .... It's a bovine celebration at storytime today! Among the books we shared today are two of my absolute favorites -- Jackie French's Too Many Pears falls in my "perfect for storytime" category -- fantastic double-page illustrations, humor, a touch of the exotic (womat! David LaRochelle and Mike Wohnoutka collaborated…

Here's my version of the file folder prop and rhyme; Open the Barn Door. I had started on it a while back and then I saw Laura's version HERE and was motivated to finish mine. I did add a couple of verses to mine though. Here's a link for my copy. Open The Barn Door. Sorry for the shiny spots, the lamination makes it tricky to take a good picture. I made my barn in 2 pieces for easier storage. I also used Google images of real animals and put them in order front and back on each green piece…

colorful paper cut outs with farm animals and barn doors on the side of a wall

My contribution this week's Flannel Friday is a flannel set I made up to use at this week's "Chickens and Eggs" storytime. It is a modified version of the classic "Little Mouse, Little Mouse" activity using a chicken and barns. To make the barns I used a barn template I found online to cut out the shapes, and drew in the details freehand with a black marker. I also used a template to cut out the basic shape of the chick, but ended up doing freehand cutting as well. The beak and feet were cut…

a hand made out of paper with green faces on it and five fingers that have googly eyes

Hello and welcome to this week's round-up of Flannel Friday creations! While few in number, there is much to admire! First up, Kathryn at Fun with Friends at Storytime created a set of animals to go with the text of the book, Buzzzzzz... Said the Bee! They look amazing and she says it's one she uses a LOT. Fun, and easy to do with any number of themes. Thanks, Kathryn! Next, Katie from Storytime Katie has TWO creations to show. First up is flannel that's all about germs! In her rhyme, "All…
