My next book for Shelf-Discipline month! I’m clearing my bookshelves one book at a time, and this perfect romance fit nicely into my September reading list.

A small, brown cottage is pictured here on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. This is an acrylic painting on claybord, a Masonite board covered by a smooth coating. Acrylic paints are very durable and don’t fade or discolor. The painting doesn’t require a frame with glass.

A lovely original watercolor of a cottage by the sea, showing a fisherman draping his nets over the porch rail to dry. I would guess this to be early 20th century. It came out of a New Orleans estate but without identifying information, and if there is a signature it is covered by the mat. Rendered in wonderful gentle greys and earth tones. The outer mat show a space between the frame so if this bothers you, you might want to have a new mat cut. The frame is a nice gilt plein-air wood frame…
