The Atlantic Ocean is the world’s second-largest Ocean after the Pacific Ocean. It covers approximately 29% of the total water surface.

Atlantic Ocean, body of salt water covering about one-fifth of Earth’s surface and separating the continents of Europe and Africa to the east from those of North and South America to the west. Its name, derived from Greek mythology, means the ‘Sea of Atlas.’ It is second in size to the Pacific Ocean.

Indian Ocean, body of salt water covering about one-fifth of the world ocean area. It is the smallest, youngest, and physically most complex of the world’s three major oceans (Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian). It stretches for more than 6,200 miles (10,000 km) between the southern tips of Africa and Australia.
