Michael Griffiths on Instagram: "How to deadhead roses for more blooms Did you know that if you want the best from your roses there are two stages to deadheading. The first is mainly aesthetic but the second will encourages new blooms and helps to maintain a compact shape. Stage 1: Pinch or cut off the finished flower, just below where the base of the flower joins the stem. Leave any remaining buds or blooms to continue flowering Stage 2: Remove the entire flowering head by cutting the stem just above the first leaf with five leaflets which will encourage more blooms."

Pollyanna Wilkinson on Instagram: "Hydrangea pruning: Lacecaps and Mopheads. These are treated very differently to arborescens or paniculata as they flower on old wood. First up, remove one or two of the oldest stems from the base, or if it hasn't been pruned in a long time and it's really congested as shown here, remove up to 30% of the old wood to the base. Remove dead, diseased and damaged stems also. Finally, prune all dead flowerheads back to the first strong pair of buds back from the flower head. You should be left with a nice open goblet shape. Questions? Pop them below. ✂️"

Michael Griffiths on Instagram: "How to divide agapanthus and other clump forming perennials in Spring. This is the same regardless of whether your agapanthus is in the pot or the ground. You’ll want to do this every couple of years if your plant is putting out less flowers, its root bound or its look bald in the middle. Look for clumps and then cut through the crown. Leave it overnight to stop the plant bleeding. Pot it up with a mix of 30% grit and 70% compost. #perennials #agapanthus #plan
