Originally designed by Frank Gehry, Santa Monica Place opened in 1980 and underwent renovations in 1990 and 1996. Completed in Fall 2010, this 557,000 square foot mall underwent an extensive transformation to become an outdoor shopping area.

In the early 1960's, Third Street in Santa Monica was just that: a street. In 1965, the city closed Third Street to create the early and original "Santa Monica Mall."
