This is one of the best-preserved bodies in the world. Her name is Rosalia Lombardo, her eyes are slightly open, and she’s a Sicilian two-year-old who died of pneumonia in Her body was embalmed and placed in the Capuchin catacombs of Palermo.
Rosalia Lombardo was born in 1918 in Palermo, Sicily and died on December 6 1920. Rosalia's father approached Dr. Alfredo Salafia, a noted embalmer, to preserve her. She was one of the last to be admitted to the Capuchin catacombs of Palermo in Sicily. She appears as if she were only sleeping, hence receiving the name "Sleeping Beauty" . She is kept in a small chapel at the end of the catacomb's tour and is encased in a glass covered coffin, placed on a marble pedestal.
