Humming bird nest - Where we lived salmon berry bushes grew abundantly and the hummingbirds loved making nests in them. Such a delight to be able to show my young children their nests with the small little eggs or baby birds in them!

The Hummingbird Nest - the hummingbird nest is so tiny it is not big enough for the babies as they grow, so the bird collects & weaves spider webs into the nest so it will expand as the babies grow. Amazing

Looking for hummingbird nests? They're small and often hidden, but this image by Bill Hilton Jr.via Operation Ruby Throat will give you an idea of what to look for. Do not remove any nests you find because hummers and other birds reuse their nests.

"Female hummingbirds will need nesting material to make her nest. She likes to use nice soft material like moss and lichen. She also likes to use cotton fluffs, bits of willows, soft plant pieces, dryer lint, and leaf hairs. She will bring these items back to her nest a little at a time, gluing it all together with spider webs. The spider webs make terrific glue for the nest, allowing the nest to stretch and be flexible as the baby hummingbirds grow."

Hummingbird House, Set of 2 by Duncraft ~ Two nesting frames have been provided because hummers often start two nests and then choose the location that is the least windy. x 3 inches
