History: Red Terror: Red Terror was a terrible event filled with murders that occurred between 1977 and 1978 in Ethiopia. A group of people known as Mengistu Haile Mariam’s military junta or Derg went into Ethiopia and killed a wide variety of people. The murderers threw bottles with red liquid in them to symbolize the blood of their enemies. It was a cruel thing to do and Mengistu Haile was sentenced to death. In the picture above, you can see a member of the Derg holding a red bottle.
